City People magazine honours Darey

It was Darey Art
Alade’s day of honour on February 6 at the SS Lounge, Victoria Island,
Lagos when he was treated to a grand reception hosted by City People.

The event which
attracted a large number of celebrities and fans, according to the
organisers was put together to celebrate his achievement and to crown
him ‘Nigeria’s RB King’. From the red carpet reception which
lasted for a few hours to the well attended event, it was all fun and
excitement as guests looked forward to an interesting evening. Typical
of many events in Lagos, the event kicked off a few hours after the
earlier scheduled 6pm .

The man of the
moment, Darey, was not left out in the fun as he was on hand to welcome
guests, his colleagues, journalists, radio DJs, industry top shots
.Hosted by a team of comperes including Top FM’s On Air Personality and
artist, Tosyn Bucknor, comedians, Tee A, Ali Baba and Gbenga Adeyinka.

Highpoints of the
event included a mock auction where Ali Baba and Tosyn Bucknor had
guests bidding for various parts of the singer ranging from his voice,
looks, outfit down to his tongue . Upcoming RB singer Waje who was
the only artist that performed at the event got the crowd singing along
to her hit single ‘For a Minute’.

Speaking about the
choice of Darey, the publisher of City People, Seye Kehinde said “the
essence of the event is encourage and appreciate the king of RB
for making Nigeria proud and for being a good ambassador of the
country” while broadcaster Bisi Olatilo was on hand to present a glass
crystal plague to honour Darey on behalf of City people .Darey in turn
was full of gratitude and dedicated the award to everyone who had
contributed in one way or the other to building the ‘Darey’ brand.

Guests at the event include, Ayo Animashaun, Moyeen, Audu Makori,
Djinee, Emeka Ike, TY Mix, Femi Adeyinka, Waje, Jedi, Ali Baba and
Julius Agwu, Kunle Afolayan, Banky W , Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi and many
others. In a related development the singer’s album, ‘Double Darey’
will be released on February 28.
