The Player

Ajileye Babatunde is a Lagos based upcoming singer
and songwriter who hopes to play in the RB and Hip-Hop genre. Babatunde
says he derived his stage name, TL, way back in secondary school when his
friends usually call him Tunde Leye or TL for short.

The History

TL says he has always loved singing from his
childhood but started singing publicly in 1998 in his school choir. Same year,
he joined a band called Down Town Squad and they performed at some secondary
school gigs all over Lagos.

The University of Lagos graduate of Computer
Science revealed that admission into the University broke the group up and he
started doing his own stuff in 2006. The 26 year old who hails from Ekiti state
is the last of five children and has premiered two official singles on 360nobs,
a Nigerian-based all round entertainment and lifestyle website.

The Inspiration

TL is inspired by life, his experiences and those
of his friends and family. His work is being produced by Wole Oni, the producer
of Midnight Crew’s ‘Igwe’, Tosin Martins’s ‘Olomi’ and a contributor to a track
by Diddy’s ‘Dirty Money’. TL is also a writer and hopes to publish a book this
year.

His influences include acclaimed singers, Boyz II
Men, R Kelly and Marvin Sapp among others.

The Music

Aside for his official singles, TL also releases
a mixtape on 360nobs.com every other week to help hoot his singing prowess
while he works on his album and builds a brand. The singer/song writer, who
also works long hours in a financial institution, says his passion for music
drives him on and availability of modern technology has also helped him hone
his skills. He hopes to be able to touch people’s lives with his music and
books and help them see opportunities available despite life’s challenges.

His two official singles available on 360nobs are
very impressive. ‘Hustlers Anthem’ (In This For Life) is about life experiences
and how people struggle to survive in life under not too pleasant
circumstances. The other single, ‘Keeps Me Running’, features him declaring his
love to a lover who seems to be worried that she isn’t getting enough of his
time. He explains that though he is a million miles away from her, she is right
in his heart. The lyrics are apt and soothe the beats; the act is hot.
