carry along none fans of Rock music.”

come to realize that the Afro sound is key and required to be able to

Will Ferrell gets top U.S. award for humor

Will Ferrell, whose
comic impersonations and movie roles have established him as one of the
most well-known American humorists, is to receive the annual Mark Twain
prize for American Humour. Ferrell will receive one of the nation’s
highest honours in the world of comedy on October 23 at a special
presentation night held at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall in
Washington D.C., the Kennedy Center said on Thursday.

Ferrell, 43, first
established himself in the world of comedy along with many top U.S.
comedians before him on the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live.
Last year’s recipient of the Twain prize, Tina Fey, also worked on the
programme.

Besides starring in
numerous movies from “Talladega Nights” to “Step Brothers” and “Blades
of Glory”, Ferrell co-founded the comedy website, Funny or Die, in 2007
and made his Broadway debut in 2009 with a one-man satire impersonating
former President George W. Bush.

The Mark Twain
Prize, established in 1998, recognizes people who have had an impact on
society comparable to the 19th century satirist and writer of novels
such as “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” and “The Adventures of Tom
Sawyer”. Previous winners

include actor Bill Cosby, stand-up comedian George Carlin, actor Steve Martin and playwright Neil Simon.

Matthew Perry to take break to “focus on sobriety”

Former “Friends” star Matthew Perry said on Thursday he is taking a break from show business to focus on his sobriety.

“I’m making plans
to go away for a month to focus on my sobriety and to continue my life
in recovery,” Perry told celebrity news website TMZ.

Perry’s publicist
said the actor was going away but said he was not currently in rehab.
Perry’s decision follows a disappointing reception for his new TV
comedy “Mr Sunshine”. The 41 year-old actor starred, created and
co-produced the show, which made its debut in February but is thought
to be at risk of cancellation after low ratings.

Perry made two
trips to rehab for addiction to alcohol and prescription painkillers
during the 10-year run of “Friends”, on which he played wise-cracking
Chandler Bing. Unlike some of his “Friends” co-stars, Perry has had
limited luck in his career since the end of the comedy series in 2004.
His last major network TV series “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” was
canceled in 2007 because of poor ratings.
