Civil Defence Arrests Vandals Of PHCN Cables

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Adamawa State has arrested six persons for allegedly vandalising PHCN cables in Yola town, Adamawa State.

Parading the suspects, comprising a man, Mohammed Adamu, and five minors he used for the operation, the state Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Goodluck Asibi, said the minors were caught after vandalising a cable behind Yola Technical College.

Asibi said the minors subsequently led the defence corps patrol team to Adamu, their sponsor.

The commandant alleged that Adamu had been using the minors for such activities after which he usually gave them some stipend of between N1,000 and N2,000.

He appealed to the public, particularly parents, to watch the movements of their wards closely so as to guard them from being used by criminals.

Asibi announced that the command also arrested 62 people within the past six months for tampering with PHCN prepaid meters and added most of them had been prosecuted. (NAN)
