Glo Naija Sings: Top 8 Impress Judges As Oluwakemi Is Voted Out

Last Sunday, 29-year old Oluwakemi from Abuja became the second contestant to be voted out of Glo Naija Sings by viewers.
Before taking a seat in the audience, Oluwakemi was asked how she was feeling and she said that the Glo Naija Sings experience had been fun, adding, “It’s the beginning of lots of great things in my life, I am happy and I thank Nigeria and Africa.”

The Top 8 then went on to tackle their challenge for the week, performing songs from international pop and rock artists under the watchful eyes of resident judges Olisa Adibua and Onyeka Onwenu and guest judge, Mandy Brown-Ojugbana, a singer/songwriter famous for her popular remake of the Bobby Benson classic Taxi Driver.

Tee Songz got the party started with If You’re Not The One? by Daniel Beddingfield while Vicky performed Shania Twain’s Still The One and her beautiful vocal rendition had the audience impressed. Earlier, Vicky had admitted to Denrele how good it was to be appreciated by the judges, and again she enjoyed good reviews.

AM OK tackled Tina Turner’s a ward-winning What’s Love Got To Do With It,? while Oni’s performance of Christina Aguilera’s Infatuation was anything but average, and it seemed she had taken the advice of the judges, who criticised the lack of sassiness and cheekiness in her previous performance.

Precious took to the stage next, performing Home by Chris Daughtry, while Mattade performed Phil Collins’ Against All Odds. Christian, on his part, took on Lighthouse Family’s Ocean Drives. Last week he was warned about vocal dynamics by one of the judges and he seemed to have heeded this advice.

Lynn wrapped up the Top 8 performances with Cher’s Do You Believe. Dressed in a black glittering dress and armed with a big voice, Lynn seemed to have improved a lot.

At the end of the show, one talented contestant will walk away with the US$100,000 grand prize, a Toyota RAV 4 from Glo and the unique opportunity to be a Glo Ambassador

Viewers and fans of the show should tune in to watch Glo Naija Sings on DSTV (Channel 102) on Sunday at 7pm, Africa Magic (Channel 114) at 8pm and on LTV on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 10pm.
