PDP Rep Wins Gombe By-Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)? House of Representatives member representing Balanga/Billiri, Federal Constituency of Gombe State, Hon. Yusuf Manu Swa, was yesterday declared winner in the just concluded by-election conducted by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), scoring 67,112 votes.
Announcing the result, returning officer, Dr. Muhammed S. Adamu, of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, declared Swa winner, followed by Yila Yaro Mustapha of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) with 19,758, votes and Mela Munga of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) 3,893. Emmanuel Amos of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) got 486 votes while Namala Amunga of the Labour Party got 251 votes.???
Dr. Adamu, said that a total number of votes cast was 93,827 while rejected votes were 2327.
LEADERSHIP observed that the election was conducted peacefully in the two local governments but there was very low turnout.
