Nigeria Engineering Works To Set Up Factory In Enugu

Nigeria Engineering Works (NEW), makers of Newclime products, says it has commenced the process of setting up an assembly plant to assemble and manufacture its products in the state.
Briefing journalists on Tuesday in Enugu after a closed-door meeting with Gov. Sullivan Chime of Enugu, the Corporate Head, Legal Department of the company, Mr Chidi Kalu, said electrical appliances like refrigerators, fans and air conditioners would be produced in the factory.

Kalu said the factory would create jobs for the youths who were technically inclined.
He said the conducive security situation in the state prompted the idea to set up the factory in the state.

“We are quite convinced that if our company is sited here in Enugu State, given the security situation which we know is about the best in the country, we believe that our company will do very well and impact positively on the generality of the people, particularly in job creation for the youths.

“That is what we have set out to do.”

The state’s Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr Jude Akubilo, said the factory would generate revenue for the state.

Akubilo said the government would provide land space where the factory would be established at the Emene Industrial Layout, adding that the government would also put all measures in place for the smooth operation of the company.

“The commissioner for Enugu capital territory and the commissioner for lands will take action to make sure that any encumbrance is taken care of.”

The heads of operations and IT system of the company, Mr Smarajit Sen and Agander Parashar were present at the meeting.
