A Senior Magistrate Court sitting in Katsina State has ordered the remand of a police corporal, Abutu Garba, in prison custody over alleged rape of a crippled mother and her daughter.
The prosecuting police officer, Mr. Okoli Usman, told the court that the corporal committed the alleged crime on December 16, 2011, at the central market outpost police station in Katsina metropolis.
According to the prosecutor, the alleged rapist lured the mother and her daughter late at night by threatening them that if they continued to walk home that night, they may be harmed on the way, while offering them accommodation at the station.
The randy cop was alleged to have repeatedly raped the disabled woman and her daughter, and was caught in the act by his superiors the following morning.
The prosecutor told the court that the suspect was arraigned for? “alleged rape and gross indecency.”
Magistrate Nurudden Abdulmumini Jikamshi, who presided over the matter, directed that the accused be remanded in prison custody till February 28, 2012.
