FG Hands Over 40 Shops To ECCIMA

The Federal Government through the Ministry of Trade and Investment has handed over 40 locked up shops at the Enugu International Trade Fair Complex to the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA) to manage.

The official handing over ceremony was performed on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Dauda Kigbu, by the Director of Trade, Mr. David Adejuwon.

In his address read by the Director Trade, Mr. David Adejuwon, the Permanent Secretary pointed out that the ECCIMA was to manage the facilities on behalf of the federal government for a period of time and to generate revenue for the government.

This gesture by the federal government, he said was to give credence to the planned Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement for the completion of the complex.? According to him: “The decision to engage ECCIMA to manage the 40 shops? is based on the need to put the facilities into effective use and to prevent and protect the shops as well as their fittings from further dilapidation and decay.”

The Permanent Secretary said in order to fast-track the early completion of the trade fair complex and its effective maintenance and management, government was planning to adopt the Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement for the construction, ownership and maintenance of the structure such as the pavilions, banks, halls, offices, eateries and shops.
