FRSC Wants Traditional Rulers’ Involvement In Road Safety Campaign

The Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) in Anambra on Thursday urged traditional rulers in the country to join the campaign for safe driving embarked upon by the commission.

Mr Hyginus Omeje, the FRSC Acting Sector Commander in Anambra, made the request when he paid a courtesy visit to Igwe Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha.

Omeje presented the FRSC Road Safety Code booklets to Igwe Achebe.

“We cannot do without the traditional rulers in various communities in the country since they are better disposed to their subjects.

“We will continue to solicit the support of the traditional institutions in this era of massive enlightenment.’’

Omeje said the command had taken the road safety campaign to churches, mosques and other public gatherings.

Responding, Achebe noted that the work of the commission was imperative considering the rate of road accidents in the country.

“We will partner with you. What you are doing is for the collective good of all. The council would brief prominent chiefs on how to pass the message to the people,’’ Achebe said. ?
