Yakowa/Azazi: Reps To Probe Helicopter Crash

The House of Representatives Committee on Aviation is set to probe Saturday’s Helicopter crash which killed Kaduna state Governor, Patrick Yakowa, Former National Security Adviser (NSA) Gen. Owoye Andrew Azazi and four others in Bayelsa State.

The Committee Chairman, Committee on Aviation, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha announced the plan in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, yesterday.

Onyejeocha said that the Committee would conduct a holistic investigation into the remote and immediate causes of the crash. The lawmaker also said that the committee would liaise with the military authorities to ensure that proper and due diligent checks were conducted regularly on all military aircraft in Nigeria.

“We will leave no stone un-turn towards ensuring air safety in Nigeria by strengthening our oversight functions of the relevant regulatory agencies in the aviation sector.” She stated.

Expressing shock and regret over the Saturday Helicopter crash, Onyejeocha registered her condolence to the families of the bereaved, the Government and the people of Kaduna State and Nigeria.
