2 Parallel PDP Chairmen Emerge In Adamawa

Anxiety has gripped Adamawa State as two parallel Chairmen of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerges yesterday with each claiming to be the legally substantive Chairman in the state.

The confusion in the state arises following the declaration by the National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Sam Jaja that the party had rescinded its earlier dissolution of the Kugama led faction after the Caretaker Committee led by Ambassador Umar Damagun has completed its assignment and has since returned Chief Joel Madaki as its elected party Chairman.

The two groups have separately conducted press conferences where each reiterated its stand as the authentic group that produces the State party chairman.

In his speech Kugama thanked the people of Adamawa State for their perseverance and peaceful coexistence in the state just as Chief Joel Madaki commended the stakeholders in the State for the role they played in compliance with the directives of the National Secretariat of the party.

However, Madaki has debunked claims that his factions is not? recognised by the NWC saying that the stand of the NWC did not concur with the spirit of fairness as he stressed that the activities of the

Caretaker Committee was sufficiently supported by the NWC.? He said, “The appointment of the Ambassador Umar Damagun led caretaker Committee was made by the NWC. The approval to conduct ward congresses on the 27th December, 2012 was done by the NWC.

Also the Local Government Congresses held on the 3rd of January, 2013 and the state Congresses held on the 8th January, 2013 were all approved by the NWC all these approval by the NWC were carried out by the Damagum led Caretaker Committee without any alteration of date,” he said
