Police Impound Truck-load Of Indian Hemp, Arrest 6 Suspects

The Police?in Zamfara have intercepted 4,800 kilogrammes of Cannabis Sativa, popularly known as Indian hemp, at Hayin Alhaji Village in Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

Mr?Lawal Abdullahi, the command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau on Friday.

Abdullahi said that the police have also arrested six suspects, belonging to a notorious drug peddling syndicate, in connection?with the impounded substances.

He said the arrest followed a tip-off, which led to the interception?of a Mitsubishi truck with registration number XA 857 TSF loaded with 16 bags of the dried leaves.

Abdullahi said the suspects were aged between 20 years and 45 years.

He said the Police were still?investigating?the suspects with a view to handling them over to narcotics officials for further investigation and prosecution.
