CotonSport tackle draw kings

22 January 2011

MTN Elite 1 leaders CotonSport travel to Scorpion in the latest round of fixtures to be played on Sunday.

Coton hold a three-point advantage over second-placed Union Douala going into the 10th round of matches in the 2010/11 season, but take on a Scorpion side who have had a remarkable season to date.

Scorpion have proven difficult to beat, but also have themselves found it tough to win, as they have managed seven draws in their nine games, with a win and a loss as well.

That leaves them in the relegation zone, though a win at home on Sunday could take them as high as sixth in the table, so congested is it in the MTN Elite 1.

One place above Scorpion in the table are Renaissance, who host second-placed Union.

Renaissance have the second-worst defence in the competition having conceded 14 goals to date, and they will do well to hold off their visitors.

Third-placed Unisport host 2008/09 champions Tiko United, who have managed just two wins this campaign and currently sit second-bottom in the table.

Unisport have the defence this season with just four conceded, meaning they will be tough to break down.

Fourth-placed Panthere host mid-table Sable, while Canon in fifth entertain Ngaoundr, and Caman travel to Yong Sport.

Bottom side Lausanne, who have yet to pick up a victory in the current campaign, have another shot when they travel to mid-table Les Astres, who were last season’s runners-up.
