The leadership of
Ipokia local government in Ogun State at the weekend moved to improve
the capacity of the state command of the Nigeria Police Force with the
donation of a crime fighting vehicle.

The head of the
council, Irene Afolashade Kokumo, said her administration is prepared
to collaborate with law enforcement agents to bring the incidence of
crime to the barest minimum.

“I am reiterating
our administration’s determination to give adequate support to not only
men of the Police Force, but to the entire security outfits in the
council area,” she said, stressing that the gesture became necessary
considering the strategic location of the local government which
borders the Republic of Benin.

The divisional
police officer, Chinwa Udoma, who received the vehicle, commended the
council authority for the timely intervention. He said his office made
the request for the vehicle less than two weeks ago.

“This is an
indication that the leadership knows the importance of security. The
division is ready and prepared to combat crime headlong, especially
when the tools are being made available. We shall not disappoint, as we
will make judicious use of the vehicle,” Mr. Udoma said.

The traditional ruler of the town, Rauf Adeole, praised the council
for its determined bid to spread dividends of democracy to the nooks
and crannies of the council, noting that the donation is part of
democracy dividends which is meant to secure lives and properties.
