pThe Ekiti State chapter of the People’s Democratic
Party (PDP) at the weekend broadened its attack on former Lagos State
governor,Bola Tinubu describing him as the sole proprietor of the
Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

While reacting to the media report that Mr Tinubu
had referred to President Goodluck Jonathan as a “drunkard, liar and a
traitor,” the State Chairman of the party, Bola Olu-Ojo, in a press
statement in Ado Ekiti, described Mr Tinubu as a sick man who requires
urgent medical attention.

“We do not blame Tinubu but the systemic rot that
allows such an element to have access to such a dizzying amount of
money,” he said, describing the ACN leader as one of the greatest
threats to democracy in the country.

“Who is a power drunk between Tinubu, who for
eight years ruled Lagos State like a fiefdom, with three deputies and
has refused to allow his successor, Babatunde Fashola to function
independently, and President Jonathan, who as a president does not
interfere in the running of his home State, Bayelsa?” Mr Olu-Ojo said.

Nature of treachery

Mr Tinubu, while speaking on Saturday at Mapo Hall
Ibadan, during the launch of the ACN campaign in Oyo State, said Mr
Jonathan lied to Nigerians that in 2011, he would not mind becoming a
Vice-President again to a Northerner if God made it so.

“Jonathan is not the kind of person that we want
as President of Nigeria. He is treacherous. He came here and called us
rascals. We are rascals for progress, development and for all the good
of our people,” Mr Tinubu said.

But Mr Olu-Ojo said there was nothing in the actions of Mr Jonathan that could lead to charges of treachery.

“Who is a traitor between Jonathan, who was a
deputy governor for over six years and stood by his boss, Diprieye
Alamieyeseigha till the end or Tinubu, who rode on the back of
Afenifere to become governor only for him to destroy the organisation
and forced its leaders like Abraham Adesanya, Ganiyu Dawodu, Olu Falae
and others out of the Alliance for Democracy (AD)?,” he said.
