Malose Kutumela’s dream comes true

7 March 2011

A lifetime dream of watching Manchester United live in action at Old Trafford, aptly known as the Theatre of Dreams – is set to become a reality for Malose Kutumela this week, after winning the MTN8 Last Fan Standing competition, held during the MTN8 football competition at the start of the 2010/2011 season.

The 8-day trip which starts on March 11, will include a lot of firsts for Florida, Johannesburg-based Kutumela, who has not forgotten his roots from his growing-up days in the Limpopo Province. Apart from being a first time visit to the home of Manchester United, this will be the first time that Kutumela will be going off the African continent.

Having entered the MTN8 Last Man Standing competition for the entire duration of the MTN8 Wafa Wafa tournament, Kutumela advanced to the final stage of the competition where he, together with seven other contestants, underwent a gruelling football related trivia test. He is now the second winner of the MTN 8 Last Fan Standing competition.

Highlights of his trip will include watching a series of matches featuring Manchester United, and a tour of Manchester and old Trafford. The trip will culminate with a monumental meet and greet with all of his favourite Manchester United players.

The trip to watch Manchester United play also marks MTNs relationship with Manchester United. Dudley Zikhali, MTN South Africas Football Sponsorship Manager, said: MTN is proud to have exclusive mobile rights to Manchester United, and granting a South African soccer enthusiast the opportunity to travel to watch Manchester United play is also symbolic of this union.

Kutumela, currently unemployed, is excited about this football adventure describing it as a trip of lifetime.

I am very excited and forever indebted to MTN for this amazing all-expenses-paid trip to watch my favourite football team, he said.

Kutumela admits that while he enjoys local football and has a few favourite teams, the opportunity to watch a world class football team like Manchester United is unimaginable.

I have always wanted to experience European football, but never thought I would be able to do it. It is a dream come true for me! And more exciting for me, with the battle at the top of the league table heating up between Man U and Arsenal, is the chance to watch Man U host Arsenal in FA Cup on the 12th of March Im sure thats going to be a great match.

The MTN8 Wafa Wafa competition is the PSLs season opener which kicks off in August this year, and fans can look forward to yet another exciting edition of the Last Fan Standing competition.

Malose Kutumelas 8-day itinerary for Manchester Tour includes the following matches:

12th March Manchester United vs Arsenal
