Fifteen political
parties under the platform of the Ondo State Chapter of the Conference
of Nigeria Political Parties yesterday directed its members to cast
their votes for the Action Congress of Nigeria’s presidential
candidate, Nuhu Ribadu.

The CNPP said their decision was based on the need to dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party from government.

Addressing a news
conference in Akure yesterday, the state chairman of the CNPP, Ayo
Isijola, said that the alliance was done in appreciation of the
contribution of the former governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
towards the emancipation of the Yoruba race from the political bondage
of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Emancipation of the Yorubas

Mr Isijola pointed
out that the contribution of Mr Tinubu to the emancipation of the
Yoruba race should be commended by stakeholders in the country.

According to him,
Mr Ribadu is a better candidate compared to all other presidential
candidates in view of his anti corruption crusade.

Speaking, the
state coordinator of Ribadu Campaign Organisation, Bola Ilori
appreciated the CNPP for mobilising its members across board to embrace
the new change.

He appealed to the
state governor, Olusegun Mimiko, and the ruling Labour Party in the
state to support Messrs Ribadu and Adeola’s candidacy for change,
stressing that Saturday’s presidential election is a straight fight
between PDP and ACN.

“Mimiko should
join other agents for change. He presently runs Ondo State on
generator. He and his party should join other progressive forces
because it is a generational duty they owe Yoruba race,” said Mr Ilori.

The political
parties under the CNPP arrangement are: the Action Congress of Nigeria
(ACN), National Democratic Party (NDP), Social Democratic Mega Party
(SDMP), Action Party of Nigeria (APN), Democratic People’s Alliance
(DPA), Democratic People’s Party (DPP), Mega Progressive People’s Party
(MPPP). Others are: People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Progressive
People’s Alliance (PPA), United Nigeria People’s Party (UNPP), KOWA,
Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD) and African Political System (APS).
