Twenty-five Labour Party candidates who contested and lost in the state Assembly election in Adamawa State say they will not challenge the results.

The spokesman of the candidates, Saidu Bako, said in Yola that though they observed some irregularities in the election, they had resolved not to go to the tribunal but start preparation for 2015 elections. Mr Saidu alleged that some of the candidates’ chances were scuttled by a rumour that the Labour Party candidates had withdrawn from the contest. Meanwhile, the National Transformation Party (NTP) candidate for Fufore/Gurin state constituency, Peter Jocktan, has petitioned the INEC over the omission of his party on the ballot papers used for the election. Mr Jocktan said that he would challenge the development in the tribunal and had already contacted a lawyer for necessary action on the development which he claimed denied him the right to contest the election.
