Hard Drug Dealers Infiltrate Imo State – NDLEA

The Imo State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Mr. Mshelia Kaku has disclosed that most cannabis dealers in the state had begun to trade in cocaine and heroin.

Kaku who promised to make Imo drug free disclosed that since January, the command had arrested 56 suspected drug traffickers with 191.7 kilogrammes of narcotics.

The commander said that the suspects were made up of 50 men and six women and added that the seized drugs comprised 191.6 kilogrammes of cannabis, 0.39 grammes of cocaine and 0.79 grammes of heroin.

“Most of the major cannabis dealers have been found to be selling cocaine and heroin in pinches within the State. We are working very hard to drastically reduce the drug problem. We also have a drug counselling and rehabilitation unit that attends to people with drug abuse problem and it has helped many people to live normal life after being taken off drugs,” said Kaku.

He also disclosed that the command has won the conviction of 10 accused persons who were charged to court while the other cases were still pending. ?
