Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh has described the round of 16 clash against England which produced only a goal from the team that has netted 13 goals so far as a difficult match. Obuh said the encounter was tactical, difficult and affected the Nigerian side. “It was a difficult game and it affected my players because they did not play as a team. I was not happy because we lacked tactical discipline.”
He said England was not fantastic and only succeeded in piling pressure on the Flying Eagles at the dying minutes because he had three injured players in the game who only managed to cope and finish the encounter. “I had three players injured who only managed to finish the game. We caused our own problems against England”
According to the FIFA U-19 silver winning coach, the lapses discovered will be corrected before the match against France in Cali.
Flying Eagles defence ace, Terna Suswam said the team had to resort to showing great character in order to scale through. “It was a very tough game but we showed great character to hang on to our goal to beat a good England team. This was the minimum we could do and so we expect to do a lot better in the quarterfinal against a more offensive minded France in Cali on Sunday.”
For Gideon Gambo, beating France on Sunday is now the collective resolve of the team. “We will beat France and I hope Portugal beat Argentina so that we could clash again and avenge the loss they inflicted on us in Panama City.”
