NPL: Club Owners Hail Minister’s Peace Effort

Premier League Club Owners Association have given thumps up to the minister of sports and Chairman National Sports Commission (NSC), Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman for his quick intervention and fearless initiative towards ensuring peace in the nation’s football.

In a statement signed by its national chairman, Suleiman David, the body described the peace initiative by the minister towards ending the continued crisis in the football industry especially the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) election brawl as timely. They assured the minister of their association’s unflinching support in his quest to bringing permanent peace to the football industry.

The body also appealed to all well meaning Nigerians to join hands with the minister in salvaging the problems rocking football in country. They applauded Nigerians and friends of football, including NFF/NFA, the press and all key actors in the crisis for their concern and sacrifices.

“We all must make sacrifices personally or collectively for things to work for us. We must not be rigid in our pursuit of personal goals rather let’s put the interest of the country and the game of football first. Our league has suffered for no just cause and this is an opportunity to get it right. For all genuine lovers of this country and the game of football, now is the time to show our commitment,” part of the statement read.

Suleiman David, who is the chairman of Niger Tornadoes, urged the general public to disregard recent publications in some dailies about petitions and comments targeted at the NPL electoral committee or some individuals in the committee, stating that all the 20 Premier League clubs has full confidence in the electoral committee to conduct the NPL re-run election.
