FRSC Mobilises 280 Men, Equipment For Special Patrol

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has deployed 285 personnel on a 24-hour special patrol to ensure an accident-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Abuja.
The FCT sector commander, Mr. Funmibi Olawoyin, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday, said that over 200 of the men would be stationed along the Gwagwalada-Abaji exit route.
“The route is always the major concern of the command during festive periods because of the volume of traffic on the road. The Gwagwalada-Abaji road is our major concern because of the bulk of movement on the road. That is where we are concentrating our efforts,” he said.
Olawoyin further disclosed that 10 vehicles, seven motorcycles, two towing trucks and three ambulances had been mobilised for effective patrol, rescue operation and enforcement of traffic rules on the route.
The sector commander urged motorists and road users to adhere to traffic rules and cooperate with the command in ensuring a hitch-free celebration.
“It is pertinent to note that over speeding, overloading, use of phones while driving, seat belt violation and reckless driving are obvious channels to untimely death and avoidable destruction of property,” he warned.
He advised the public to call the FRSC emergency numbers, 070022553772, 08077690701 and 08077690544 for prompt attention in case of any emergency.
