PDP Dissolves Ondo Exco, Sets Up Ten-member C’ttee

The National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olusola Oke, has announced the constitution of a 10-member Transition Committee that will administer the Ondo State chapter of the Party from now till when the party would hold its congress.

The development has therefore ended the tenure of the Dr. Tayo Dairo’s led state executive and the Interim Caretaker Committee headed by Ambassador Olu Agbi, which was put in place by a faction of the party at the height of its crisis sometime in May this year.

Oke, in the statement personally signed by him yesterday explained that the decision was taken on Friday at the end of series of peace talks by chieftains of the party which started three weeks ago.

He also said that the development had put to an end internal crisis in the Party which had forced many of its members to defect to other parties.

Oke, in the statement, noted that: “In view of the internal crisis that the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State experienced in recent times the National Legal Adviser convened a meeting of a Forum of Leaders of the Party.

“The meeting comprised people who represented the contending forces within the Party. It is pertinent to underscore the fact that this Forum of Leaders is an assembly of a broad spectrum of Leaders who have resolved to work assiduously for the resurgence of the Party in this State.”

He said that the essence of the forum was to address the issues that largely or remotely contributed to the crisis with a view not only to resolving them but also calming every frayed nerve.

Oke also said that the forum also paid due attention to all tendentious matters so as to accomplish its existential focus to achieve cohesion and unity once again in the Party.

He said that the meeting also agreed to put in place, a 12-member Caucus, a State Elders Council and constitute a State Stakeholders Forum.
