The governor of Benue State, Mr Gabriel Suswam has said that his relationship with the leadership of his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is cordial.
He also added that there was no feud between his government and the party both at the State and National levels as reported in a section of the media.
Governor Suswam who spoke in an interview with LEADERSHIP in Abuja also said that the allegation that his administration was in crisis with the stakeholders of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in the State was unfounded even as he maintained that he was only extending a hand of fellowship to the opposition parties.
He said, “I am the Governor of the State and I have to care for the welfare of everybody regardless of political differences.
I have to be tolerant, no matter what anybody says or does.
I want to run an all-inclusive government so that all the people of Benue will enjoy the dividends of democracy and welfare packages that I promised them during my campaigns”.
The governor said that his benevolence to the people of the State had not caused any rift between him and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or ALGON as rumoured.
He said that his administration enjoyed smooth relationship with the party’s leadership and the stakeholders of ALGON and stressed that he would continue to promote peace and unity in Benue as part of his plans to develop the State.
Suswam during the interview confirmed that there was no truth in the allegation that his administration suspended the Chairman of Buruku traditional council, Chief Afaityo Ajoko, the TerBuruku alongside other traditional rulers in the state.
The Governor maintained that his administration had never suspended any traditional ruler over an alleged romance with the opposition party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN)
Corroborating the Governor’s claims, the Chairman of Buruku traditional council, Chief AfaityoAjoko refuted the media report (Not in Leadership) that he was suspended alongside other traditional rulers by the Suswam government for involving themselves in political issues.
The TerBuruku, in a statement obtained by our Correspondent, condemned the media report said that he was not happy when he read in the newspaper that he and other traditional rulers were suspended and put under serious threat by Governor Gabriel Suswam.
The traditional ruler further said, “ my subjects and myself have never been put under any threat by the government of Benue. The reports were fake and they were just to cause disunity and ruin the good relationship that we enjoy with the Governor. I am now using this opportunity to tell the whole world that the traditional council in Buruku does not have any problem with the government.”
