Okonjo-Iweala Harps On Capacity Building

The minister of finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has urged staff of her ministry to adopt efficiency and effectiveness in handling their official functions in order for them to deliver of the present administration’s Transformation Agenda.

Okonjo-Iweala gave this charge during a meeting with staff of the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Budget office of the federation yesterday in Abuja.
She promised to put in place an training and re-training schemes that would enable staff to acquire new skills and knowledge for improved performance and encouraged take advantage of the various e-learning programmes on the internet to improve themselves, promising that evidence of such self improvement would be rewarded.

On the current moves to ensure security in the country, the minister stressed the need for a clean and secure environment to enable workers operate in comfort, which enhances productivity.

Since security is a collective responsibility, she urged staff to be more security conscious while management would put in place bio-metric identification of staff and proper monitoring.
Okonjo-Iweala promised to take a second look at the anti-corruption measures currently in place in the ministry with a view to bringing in measures that would effectively tackle the issues of corruption.

She also promised regular town-hall meetings with the staff.
