Northern Governors Vow To Tackle Boko Haram

Northern governors under the aegis of Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) have said that they will work harmoniously to tackle the Boko Haram menace by addressing issues relating to unemployment, thuggery , poverty and ignorance that have helped fuel the crisis in the region.

The governors also said that they would not pay the minimum wage across board in their various states, but would only implement the stipulated minimum wage based on the provisions of the law pending the improvement of their revenue bases.

Addressing the media after the Forum meeting in Abuja yesterday, chairman of the Forum and Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, stated that the governors having received the report on the situations in Borno and Plateau states, would provide the necessary support needed to bring the situation to a stop.

“On the issue in Borno State, we are very happy with the progress made so far and we encourage the governor of Borno State to continue with what he has started. With regards to the issues of Plateau, we note that it is not just the problem of Plateau but that of the nation and all of us.”
