Two gun men on thursday, stormed the Madalla market in Suleja, Niger State and shot dead five men before escaping.
Eye witnesses said the killings forced the traders to flee in different directions.

A trader in the market said that the incident happened around 7pm when they were about to retire for the day.
“This man that was killed was with his sister packing their wares when two men appeared and ordered the man to recite the Koran; when he couldn’t, they shot him. They left the market and moved towards the road around Korom,” the witness said.

Adams Idowu, a resident of Madalla said that the second man had just left his wife to get some fuel for his generator when he was shot at close range.
“No one is safe in Nigeria any longer. You go to your work and on the road, you pray for safe journey.
When you come back from work, you have to rejoice that you arrive home safely from your work without accident bomb blast on the way. But now, you arrive home and even at the street across your house, you meet your death. It is unfortunate,” Idowu lamented.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Niger State, Mr. Ugwuche Richard confirmed the incident and said that the police were on the trail of the assassins.
“The DPO said: “At about 7.30 to 8pm yesterday , unknown men armed with guns attacked the Madalla Market area and shot five people to death. But before the police could get there, the hoodlums had fled the scene. The bodies of the victims have been deposited at the Suleja Hospital,” he said.
