Almakura Reads Riot Act To Saboteurs

The Nasarawa State Government has warned that it will no longer tolerate any act of sabotage or vandalisation of public facilities.

Governor Tanko Almakura gave the warning while inaugurating an electricity transformer at Angwan Lambu in the Keffi Local Government Area of the state.

He said that while his administration was working assiduously to provide the basic necessities of life for the people, some persons were bent on sabotaging its effort by vandalising public facilities, especially transformers.

“We are no longer going to take it lightly with those sabotaging our efforts at trying to make life easy for the people of the state. If they are bent on vandalising public facilities, let them go elsewhere because this administration will make life unbearable for them,” he said.

Almakura called on the people to always guard public facilities jealously, pointing out that any destruction of public facilities would adversely affect all of them.

He assured the people of steady electricity supply soon with the recent boost from about 17 megawatts (MW) to 100 MW as well as the purchase and installation of more than 30 transformers by his administration.

The governor reiterated his administration’s determination to provide basic amenities to the common man, pledging that he would not embark on white elephants.

He promised that his administration would focus only on projects which had direct bearing on the lives of the less privileged.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Almakura also inaugurated another transformer in Sabon Gida in Kokona Local Government Area, as well as water supply projects in the Nasarawa and Keffi council areas in addition to the inspection of an abattoir project in Nasarawa. (NAN)
