LEADERSHIP Conference Holds Today

The 2011 Annual Lecture and Awards by Conferences Limited, a subsidiary of the LEADERSHIP Newspapers Group, comes up in Abuja today.
According to a statement by LEADERSHIP, the conference, which holds at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Sheraton Hotels and Towers, has as its theme, “The 2011 Elections: How Credible?”?

A high point of the event will be the award ceremony where some distinguished Nigerians and corporate bodies chosen by the newspaper’s board of editors will be honoured for their resounding impact on politics, business, economy, sports and entertainment in 2010.
Three star awards will have Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) as the Politician of The Year; the Person Of The Year goes to former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu; while Oshiomhole is the Governor of the Year. All the awardees and special guests have confirmed attendance.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, will be the special guest of honour and keynote speaker while the National Security Adviser, General Andrew Azazi (rtd) is chairman of the occasion.
Also, the conference will have as chief host, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed, while Governor of Edo State Adams Oshiomhole and President, ?Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Joseph Dawodu (SAN), ?will also speak at ?the conference.

The conference is LEADERSHIP’s contribution to the quest for credible elections in Nigeria.
For the award ceremony, 10 persons, four companies, a government agency and a product had been chosen for their outstanding achievements in 2010.

Other awardees include Business Person of the Year, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, chief executive officer of Global Fleets; Public Service Person of the Year, Ifueko Omoigui-Okauru, executive chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service; Chief Executive Officer of the Year, Evelyn Ndali Oputu; Brand of the Year, Dangote; Company of the Year, GLOBACOM; Telecom of the Year, Etisalat; Government Agency of the Year, Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Millennium Development Goals; Sports Person of the Year, Eucharia Uche, coach of the Super Falcons.?

A statement by LEADERSHIP said, “even though the event is coming late because of a series of hectic national political events earlier in the year, we have taken time to ensure that the event will be more than worth the unintended delay.”
