As members of Lagos State House of Assembly resumed sitting yesterday after a? six week recess, members have decided to shun debate on the allegation of misappropriation of fund? levelled against the speaker, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji.

The speaker, Ikuforiji presided over the sitting despite the allegation of misappropriation of funds levelled against him.

The Order Paper? stated? the business of the day as? laying of report on the review of Business Rules and Standing Orders of the House and Presentation of report on Administrative guidelines of local governments.

Meanwhile, member representing Agege Constituency 1, Mudashiru Obasa , moved a motion for the appointment of an acting clerk of the House pending when a new one? would be appointed.

According to him, the appointment of an acting clerk would afford the House the opportunity? to work with ease.

Member representing Badagry Constituency 1, Hodewu Avoseh moved that Mr. Abiru Ganiyu be? appointed as acting clerk till the Civil Service Commission approves the appointment of a clerk. The motion was seconded by Adefunmilayo Tejuosho representing Mushin Constituency 1 at the House.

The former clerk of the House, who retired in August this year, had said that his successor would be picked among the senior staff of the House.

He had said then that this would help to foster the already strong place the House earns among the 36 State Houses of Assembly since such a person to be appointed already has knowledge of the way the House is run.
