TY Danjuma Foundation Tasks Stakeholders On Job Creation

A Non-Governmental Organization, TY Danjuma Foundation, has emphasized the need to adopt an effective strategy that will drive the wheel of change among the youths of the country with the sole aim of creating leaders that will transform the nation.

Speaking at a one-day graduation workshop in Benin City on Tuesday at the Work Place Intelligent Nigeria Graduates scheme (W.I.N.G.S), the Chairman,? TY Danjuma Foundation,

Lt.-Gen Theophilus Danjuma, said youth unemployment was one of the most critical challenges facing Nigeria today and noted that any efforts made towards reducing its growing trend would be well appreciated.

The ceremony which had in attendance graduates of the After School Graduate Development Centre (AGDC), University of Benin, equally drew the representative of the Edo State government and the banking sectors.

AGDC Executive Director, Detoun Ogwo, in her welcome address said the event was to showcase projects which the programme had been working on in the last one year and added that the scheme had impacted positively on the lives of over 140 students.

She said the focus of the programme was to run a hard core employment and training enterprise to prepare students for the challenges after graduation and the intervention is to reduce the difficulties among students outside university environment.

“This intervention will critically reduce the numbers of young people that will leave the university and start looking for jobs, and what to do and how to do it. We are a career centre which monitors the transition of our youths and trying to bridge the gap and I am happy we have done that successfully.

“One requirement about the graduate themselves is that they have to go into the community to teach others what they have learnt and impact on other lives by going to other communities.”

?She further congratulated the initiatives of the Founder, Lt General Danjuma (rtd) and the management of the foundation for providing and caring for the needy.
