2012: NLC Endorses Oshiomhole’s Return Bid

?The Nigeria Labour Congress of Nigeria, (NLC) has indicated its readiness to support the return bid of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole back to Government House in the 2012 governorship election, noting that the governor has performed creditably well to the expectation of the people.

President of the NLC, Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar, who stated this in Government House in Benin City yesterday when the leadership of the National Administrative Council of the union paid the governor a courtesy visit,? said the entire Organized labour? are impress ed by the giant strides the governor has achieved since assuming office.

He said many skeptics in the early days of Oshiomhole’s administration had expressed doubt that Labour leader? may not perform in governance but however, added the comrade governor had proved his critics wrong having embarked on projects that touched the lives of the people.

In his words:? “It has been confirmed that you have not in any way disappointed the Labour.? We will continue to hold our heads up high because you have done well. The relationship between the Labour and government in Edo State is exemplary that we can show case anywhere.

“We are happy that you are performing for your people and by next year we will do everything possible to join in your campaign because you have done well to deserve a second mandate, we are not hiding it and we will campaign for you,” he assured.

?Comrade Oshiomhole? in his response thanked?? the leadership of the union for the visit,? and? said that his background in the Labour struggle had prepared him for the challenges of governance, adding that his? achievements in the state wouldn’t have been possible without the Labour

“We have had a lot of challenges but what I have learnt in NLC is that challenges are meant to be surmounted. We made a statement that Edo is working. Even our opponents testify to that.”
