The Finest Girl in Nigeria beauty pageant is an event created by Abuja event guru, Barry Avotu Johnson, also known as Barry J Black, an entertainment consultant who has worked for many years with Daar Communications Plc, owners of the famous AIT and Raypower, television and radio stations in Nigeria.

The event was created in 2008 to mobilise and champion the development of the traditional and cultural heritage of the different nations on earth with a ‘flatworm’ in Nigeria to add great colors to tourism development.

The event is also designed to create positive awareness to building a greater and peaceful world where every individual will have equal rights to enjoy life.
Finest Girl in Nigeria is labeled as “the show of fame.”

The pageant has gathered great respect for itself in only five years of existence. Contestants were drawn in the 2011 edition, from the 36 states and the federal capital city of Nigeria.

The event is also seen and valued as the most prestigious beauty pageant in Nigeria. ?
The grand finale tickets, which ranged from N1,000, N2,000 and N5,000, were sold out two weeks before the event in Makurdi as the crowd cued under a heavy rain to enter the show.

Nigerians surely witnessed a downpour of a superlative beauty pageant of fame in Makurdi, the Benue State capital with the rave of the moment musicians, comedians and super models on rampage.

It is called the biggest beauty pageant in Nigeria with the biggest runway where contestants dressed in original Nigerian attires from their respective states, show case at the opening ceremony, a dance drama. Their costume is estimated to cost a whopping N2million designs, scripting, casting, costumes and pictures, thereby for the first time unveiling the 1 month rehearsal package in a 3d format to the lucky 5,000 spectators at the open air theatre in Makurdi.

Barry Avotu Johnson who is the president of Blackink Nigeria, owners and organizers of the beauty pageant, opened up to the press after the event on the preparations they made to host the event in Nigeria. He thanked the Benue State governor for his support. The governor was represented at the event by the secretary to the Benue State government.

He said the show, which ended in a grand finale, witnessed the biggest red and green carpet interview in Africa, with the best super models representing the 36 states and the FCT, plus 10 top class musicians and comedians that rocked the stage that night.

The event is said to have the qualitiesof an international beauty pageant with a welcome party held some three months ago, as well as a preliminary show also held at the Abuja Sheraton Hotels on May 28, to also celebrate the change of government.

Mr. Barry also said the outgone queen; Mary Anyaloe Adams did her last charity green carpet event in Abuja some months to the grand finale held in Makurdi.

The event featured two Nollywood actors as masters of ceremony for the first time in the history of any beauty pageant in Nigeria.
At the end of the event, the super model that represented Benue State, Miss Esther Yaji, a Theater Arts student from the Benue State University, was crowned the 2011 Finest Girl in Nigeria.

With Esther as the new queen of the pageant, Benue State will also host the 2012 edition for the second time because the organisers of the event designed the event in such a way that allows the grand finale of every edition to be hosted in the state capital of the winner.

Queen Esther Yaji won the 4th edition of the beauty pageant show with her superlative display in the causal, tradition al and dinner dress appearance with the big crowd shouting at every of her step on stage.

Queen Esther represents great beauty, elegance and intelligence as her name depicts, with a strong character to show for it.
Queen Yaji will soon launch her pet project tagged “Back to School” practically designed to promote the development of education in the rural areas in Nigeria, most especially the north.??????
