Breast Cancer Campaign March To Come To Abuja

Friends of Benjamin Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation would in a few days, organise a million-man march to press for the early detection and cure of breast cancer in Nigeria.

The national coordinator of Friends of Benjamin and the organiser of the campaign, Mrs. Anthonia Oguah, in collaboration with Dr. Oladejo Abiodun of the Lifestyle Management for Cancer Prevention, have said the march will be geared towards pricking the conscience of the government of Nigeria to observe henceforth, the international month for breast cancer.

“October this year, was internationally observed as the month for breast cancer awareness, so Friends of Benjamin Foundation decided to join millions of people all over the world to call for support for breast cancer survivors, as well as raise the level of awareness for early detection and treatment through mammography”, she said during her PINK Breast cancer awareness event organised at Nanet Suites Abuja recently.

She said the march is very necessary, because, “breast cancer like most of us know and have heard people say, is a very dangerous disease living with us today all over the world.

The need for the awareness of this sickness among women cannot therefore be overemphasized because many of us have lost friends or family members to this disease, hence the need for continuous awareness and solution to curb this menace”.

According to her, the scourge appears to be a heavy burden for researchers who have been looking for possible ways to arrest the disease.
She added that, “In view of the ongoing research to develop a cure for breast cancer, various steps have been adopted one of which is the aspect of fund raising.???????????
