CPC Endorses Marwa For Adamawa Guber Race

The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in Adamawa State has endorsed retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa as the party’s candidate for the governorship election scheduled for January 2012, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Marwa’s endorsement at the CPC state primaries held? in Yola followed the last minute withdrawal of his opponent, Alhaji Sulaiman Abdullahi.
Abdullahi said his withdrawal and support for Marwa was based on consultations with the party’s stakeholders at the state and national levels.
He said his action was also hinged upon the need to have a strong and united party for the 2012 governorship poll.
In his remarks, Marwa lauded the maturity shown by Abdullahi and announced the immediate commencement of the party’s campaign tour of the state.
Marwa gave assurance to the people of the state that if elected in 2012 he would bring development to the state.
“If elected into office in 2012, we promised to give free education, health and adequate security of lives and property in the state,” Marwa said.
Marwa, who hails from Michika, Adamawa North Senatorial District, picked Mr. John Mannasa, who is from Adamawa South Senatorial District, as his running mate. Mannasa is a three-time Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in Adamawa. The party governorship primary, which was peaceful, was conducted amid tight security. (NAN)
