Focus On Human Capital Devt, Govs Urged

The Joint Council of Rights Monitoring Group and Conference On Security, Development & Democracy In Nigeria(RMG/CSDDN) has called on State governors across the country to pay more attention to development of human capital.

The national coordinator of RMG, Olufemi Aduwo, said in a statement that State governors should emulate the governor of Akwa Ibom, Godswill Akpabio for the novel and programmatic initiatives embarked upon by his administration in the area of infrastructure, education and human development.

Aduwo said, “School pupils and students enjoy free, compulsory education from primary to secondary levels, the first of its kind in the old eastern Nigeria.”

The RMG coordinator said, “we want to use? this opportunity to call on the other State governments to emulate the 9- point agenda of the governor in the areas of social development, security of life and property.”

On the successes noticeable in Akwa Ibom State, Aduwo said that the governor has created? an enabling environment which has the capacity to attract both local and foreign investors, “We are applauding his visionary leadership quality.”

He said, “we have always said that the crucial side of democracy is development. Without democracy there is no development. Today, the people of Akwa Ibom can proudly say that there is democracy in the state going by the level of development going on there.”

Aduwo also said that the governor has done well in the area of entertainment and tourism and added that soon Akwa Ibom would be one of the tourist hot beds of the country.
