Nollywood star Rita Dominic may pass as an outstanding actress but apparently, with the shameful part of her art she displayed at the 2011 edition of ‘The Headies’ (formerly HipHop? World Awards),? it may not be wrong to describe her as a disastrous compere.

Dominic, alongside her co-host, singer Lanre Dabiri, better known as Eldee made a complete mess of their performance as hosts at the award show held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

The two, nervously delivered their lines and at some point seemed they were woken up from a deep sleep and whisked to the event as they appeared dumber and dumber each time they appeared on stage – all that was seen as impressive about them was Rita’s make up and their outfits.

Perhaps, Eldee, who as a performer was expected to be used to attract? a large crowd, was infected by Rita Dominic’s regrettable performance. However, his performance was way upbeat than Rita’s as he helped the actress get into the mood a couple of times but a timid Rita was just too nervous to comport herself.

LEADERSHIP SUNDAY reliably gathered that the award founder, Ayo Animashaun, was displeased and embarrassed by the actress’ performance as he described it as “crap.”
Other industry big guns at the event also noted that Rita Dominic’s performance was the worst in the history of the awards.

However, many also berated Eldee for lighting a cigar and puffing it at quick intervals on stage at the time a sensitive documentary such as incessant ‘rape’ of teenage girls and women in general was rolling on the projector.

Meanwhile, 36-year-old internationally acclaimed pop singer, 2face Idibia, emerged the biggest winner of the night as he walked away with the awards for the Best R&B/Pop Album, Album of the Year and biggest award of the night Artiste of the Year.

With ‘The Unstoppable International Edition’ released in 2010, 2face edged out other contenders like D’banj, M.I, Darey, Dr. SID, Duncan Mighty and Asa.
Pop sensation, Wizkid won the Next Rated Award beating other contenders Tiwa Savage, oLamide and Ice Prince to win the coveted prize of a brand Hyundai Sonata.
