Tension In Nasarawa PDP Over Al-Makura’s Offer To Legislators

Indications emerged last night that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) might not be comfortable with the alleged political romance between Governor Tanko Al-Makura and the PDP dominated state House of Assembly.
?

?

Out of the 24 members of the Assembly, PDP has 20, while the CPC has only four.
?

The development might not be unconnceted with the situation where Al-Makura found it tough early in his administration, as the lawmarkers reportedly held the governor to ransom under the guise that he refused to furnish the Assembly complex along Shendam Road.
?

The Assembly has been sitting at a temporary complex at the state Ministry for Local Government and Community Development in the last three years.
?

The lawmakers were also said to be angry with the governor for constituting the recently dissolved Development Areas without consulting them.
?

But the governor had danced to the tune of the Assembly by dissolving the development areas just as the two arms seem to be getting on well.
?

The PDP was, howeve, said to be uncomfortable? with the growing romance between the governor and the Assembly.
?

Al-Makura recently extended an olive branch to the lawmakers, asking them to produce two names each for appointment as members of the local government and development areas transition committees just as they quickly obliged after consulting with their party.
?

A source at the state PDP secretariat, who pleaded anonymity, told LEADERSHIP that despite the consultation, the development did not go down well with the party, which might have written its national secretariat in Abuja over the matter.
