Police Arrest Pastors, 2 Others For Kidnapping

Police detectives in Asaba, Delta State, have arrested two pastors of a renowned church in Warri and two others for allegedly belonging to a gang that specialises in kidnapping.

Reports said that at the time the four suspects were arrested, they were said to have participated in the kidnapping of one Grace Odibo in Warri as well as a 23-year-old student in Asaba. Confirming the story, a police source disclosed that one of the victims, Grace Odibo, who resides at Orhuworhun road in Ovwan Asaba was kidnapped by five armed men as she was returning from church.

He said that the suspects, who are still in police custody, would be charged to court as soon as investigations were completed.

The police further explained that Grace,? in company of one Miss ufuoma Akpejohwo, while driving in her Mercedes Benz car with registration number DT 242 ABA on the fateful day, was kidnapped and taken? to the house of the prime suspect, prophet Jeffery (surname withheld) for many days before she was? rescued.

The police source also said that upon receiving the information, the anti-kidnap squad swung into action and arrested the suspects and rescued the victim from the first suspect’s house.

Meanwhile a legal practitioner and former member of the defunct Bendel State House of Assembly, Barrister Ogbimi kidnapped recently, has been released.
Narrating his ordeal, Barrister Ogbimi said, “two gun men? took me away, later they collected all the money in my pocket before they pushed me away three days after”.
