The Borno State chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Alhaji Zanna Shettima, yesterday called for the dissolution of the state executive council.
Shettima, who made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri, observed that the present All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) administration led by Governor Kashim Shettima had good vision for the state, but that its commissioners and special advisers might truncate it.

“The kinds of people that constitute the cabinet are inexperienced and, therefore, have nothing to contribute to the development of the state. The members of the state executive council have no exposure because they have never worked anywhere,” he noted.
According to him, the governor’s few months in office has shown that he is committed to the transformation of the state, but that he needs a credible team to support him.

The CPC chieftain also advised the governor to find a lasting solution to the problem of insecurity in the state by dialoguing with members of the Boko Haram sect “in an honest and sincere manner in order to return peace to Borno,” noting that using force was not the way to go.

But the Director of Press to Gov. Shettima, Alhaji Usman Ciroma, explained that members of Borno Executive Council were qualified to be part of government as they were university professors and seasoned administrators.
