Wife Poisons Husband To Retain Boyfriend

The people of Odeligbo Okpuitumo in Izzi Local Government Area, were on March 25, 2011 thrown into confusion when the news broke that one Mrs. Rosemary Akpu allegedly poisoned her husband, Mr. Daniel Akpu, in order to retain her boy friend.

The late Akpu was said to have gone to work in his farm,? But after some hours, he became hungry, and returned home to roast some yams for food.

As he was about roasting the yams, his wife told him not to bother as she was about preparing pounded yam for him. The man, innocently, heeded his wife’s advice and joined her in preparing the food by pounding the yam himself.

LEADERSHIP learnt that when the food was ready, Mrs Akpu served her husband with the food she had poisoned.
Our correspondent was informed that immediately after eating the food, the man began to shout about his itching throat and demanded for palm oil and as they were still looking for palm oil, the man screamed once more and gave up the ghost.

The alleged boyfriend to the woman, whose name was simply??? given as Bernard, LEADERSHIP further learnt, was said to have been warned by the now late Mr Akpu to take his eyes off his?? wife the previous week.??????????????????????

Meanwhile, the truth was however, ascertained when the villagers summoned the suspected woman with her boy-friend for interrogation.

The lover boy? was said to have absented from the gathering where only the woman came and after several interrogations, the woman confessed to committing the crime.
The matter took a different twist when the woman’s brother, whose name was not given,? got the police involved in the matter alleging that his sister was accused falsely.
The police from Ejitum Police Post, under Ekumenyi Division, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State had to invade the village and arrested some persons who reports said have been granted bail.

The accused woman and her alleged boy-friend, Bernard were equally arrested by the police to help them in their investigation.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. J. Eluu, confirmed the arrests.
