Nigerian Army Replaces Battalion In Sudan

Men of the 244 Battalion of the Nigerian Army (NA) left Abuja on Saturday? for Sudan on a peace-keeping mission.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the director, Army Public Relations, Maj.Gen Ralph Isah, said, via a telephone chat, that their deployment was a routine posting of men of the Nigerian Army to areas which required peace keeping.

He said that the 244 battalion will replace the 19 battalion, which had finished its term in the North African country.

“We have four battalions in Sudan and two battalions in Liberia currently on peace-keeping missions.

“From now till February, 2012, you shall notice movement of troops, as those who have finished their terms will be returning to the country and others would be deployed to replace them,” he said.
