Katsina Removes College Provost

Katsina State Government has sacked provost of the state owned college of legal and administrative studies, Dr Muazu Abdullahi Saulawa even as it directed immediate dissolution of the institution’s governing council.

Addressing newsmen after the state executive council meeting, Wednesday, Secretary to the State Government, (SSG) Mukhtar Ibrahim, said the state government decision was in line with the recommendation of panel set up to investigate student protest in October.

The SSG disclosed that the institution’s registrar has also been directed to hand over to the most senior officer in the registry department. He said government had directed for the immediate opening of the school for continuation of academic activities.

Mukhtar said the institution shall be reopened on the 12th of December adding that Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) has been mandated to address shortage of water in the school.

It would be recalled that the students had on 19th of October, went on rampage and destroyed school properties while protesting over poor infrastructures in the school.
In a swift reaction, government ordered immediate closure of the school and set up a panel of inquiry to investigate causes of the disturbances.
