Security Is Collective Responsibility – SSS

The director of the State Security Service (SSS) in Anambra State, Mr. Chuks Ngwu, has called on Nigerians to always collaborate with security agencies in their bid to check criminal activities in the environment.

Ngwu made the call at a one-day workshop organised by Realife Lliving Foundation yesterday, in Awka, with the theme, ‘Harnessing the Business Opportunities in a Secure Business Environment. Ngwu state that the task of keeping the society safe should not be left solely for security operatives and government alone, arguing that even when fully deployed, officers and men would not be enough to police every location in the country.?

“Security should be a collective responsibility for all citizens. Individuals should watch their environment carefully and report any strange character or object to the nearest security department,” Ngwu said.

He said individuals have many roles to play, especially in the surveillance of their environment, which complement effort of security agencies, and appealed to the public to give security agencies time to solve security challenges, noting that some situations require time to overcome.

He also called for adequate awareness among the members that of the public, who instead of helping security agents to do their work well, see them as enemies.
