Pollution: Lagos Seals Off Premises Of Collapsed Warehouse

In response to looming epidemic outbreak posed by stench from a collapsed warehouse, Lagos State Government? sealed off the premises of the warehouse located in Oba Akran area of the state.

The one-storey warehouse before its collapse was used as cold room for imported frozen products by Haano Industries, as workers were loading the frozen product believed to be fish and chicken from the container.

The inability of the property owners and authority to bring down the structure and evacuated some of the product already loaded had in recent times caused a serious stench in the area compelling the state government’s intervention.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the offensive odour irked the management of May and Baker Company Limited ,one of the companies that share boundary with the collapsed structure to petition the state government and complained about the looming health hazard posed to the residents.

Logistic Supervisor, May and Baker, Mr. Bosun Odukoya, said the offensive odour started two days after the building collapsed, adding that the management of the company had to petition the governor on the issue when it became dangerous to health.
