Why Crises Persist In Nigeria-Sultan

Taking holistic ex-ray of the happenings in the country, the Sultan of Sokoto and President Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III yesterday said
that the “problems facing us in this country are largely due to injustice to some people”.

The Sultan explained that; “when we are talking of injustice, it mean that we don’t have good governance and if there is no good governance, there cannot be good people. If there are no good people, you can’t have a good nation. And that is why we keep on having such problems.”

At another occasion, Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria[MULAN] frowned at the non establishment of shari’a courts by the state Governments in southern Nigeria to adjudicate on Islamic personal matters as it relates to marriage, divorce, inheritance, paternity and other aspects of family law.

According to the Royal father, who spoke at the 5th annual General Conference of the association in Kaduna said, “there is a lot of ignorance in the polity.? Christians don’t know what their religion teaches them, Muslims don’t know what Islam is all about, that is ignorant. So, we must wake up and educate ourselves very well about what Islam is. And Christians too must wake and educate themselves about what Christianity is.”

“Ignorant and moral decay are the same problem that cause our decay of our infrastructure in the country, lack of electricity, lack of good roads, lack of good governance, lack of everything.

“Moral decay in the sense that people know what they are suppose to do because they are educated, either religious leaders, political leaders but they have refuse to do so, instead they turn the other way. Ignorance, people don’t know what Islam is.
