I Can Stop Boko Haram If … OPC Leader

If the federal government is serious about putting an end to the menace of the Islamic extremist group, Boko Haram in the country, then it should employ the service of the Odua People’s Congress (OPC).

OPC coordinator, Chief Ganiyu Adams, said in Akure, the Ondo State capital yesterday, that the group had all it would take to put a stop to the terrorist activities of the Islamic extremist sect.

The OPC coordinator, however, gave conditions for his involvement in such an endeavour. According to him, he can only offer himself for such service if the federal government appoints him as a consultant on the Boko Haram matters with the full involvement of OPC as a body.

Adams, while fielding questions from newsmen at the National Coordinating Council (NCC) meeting of OPC, accused high ranking security officials and highly placed politicians in the country of making a lot of money from the Boko Haram security challenge.

“I offer myself as a consultant to the FG on Boko Haram. All the strategies to curb and put a final stop to the terrorist acts of the sect are embedded in my brain, but I can only release it if the FG seeks my assistance and engage me as security consultant.

“With my experiences and challenges as the leader of one of the biggest organisations affiliated with National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) to chase away the military in governance, you can be assured that I will definitely put a final stop to the activities of Boko Haram in any part of the country,” Adams said.
He therefore warned those who compare the OPC with Boko Haram to desist, explaining that the OPC is a socio-cultural organisation that has nothing to do with militancy or regional inclinations.

He said that it was a misconception that OPC was a militant group agitating for the emancipation of the Yoruba race, adding that the group came into being following the collective rejection of military incursion into the political arena of the country and the security challenges put forward during the struggle for the enthronement of democracy.
