Imo Assembly Strips Traditional Ruler Of Title

The Imo State House of Assembly yesterday passed a motion suspending the chairman, South East Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, for alleged criminal activities, after an executive session.?

The State Assembly prior to the suspension was said to have summoned the traditional ruler to clear himself of an allegation brought to it by one Ekechukwu, who is a subject of the Monarch and who claimed that the royal father has been bringing shame to the community having being previously convicted of a criminal activity.

Ilomuanya who was said to be absent at the Adhoc Committee meeting of the House, was represented by his lawyer, Mr. Declan Madu, who however did not deny the allegation leveled against his client.

The monarch it would be recalled have not been having a rosy relationship with the state government as he was removed as the state chairman of traditional rulers immediately after the exit of the immediate past government.

LEADERSHIP WEEKEND also gathered that the suspended monarch was due to confer a chieftaincy title on the Senate president, David Mark on Sunday, December 18, 2011.

In a related development, another monarch, Eze Cosmos Onyeneke from Lagwa autonomous community in Aboh Mbaise local government area of the state was also suspended by the House for an alleged conspiracy of crime in his area of jurisdiction.
