Bafarawa Returns To ANPP

Former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, had staged a comeback to his former party, the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), following a formal declaration in Sokoto yesterday.?

Bafarawa, a two-term governor on the platform of the ANPP, had abandoned the party towards the end of his administration and almost single-handedly formed Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) which he also left to join the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). He denounced his ACN membership last month but, until yesterday, he had remained silent over his next political move.

In a grand reception attended by the national chairman of the ANPP, Chief Ogbonna Onu; the party’s presidential candidate, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau; Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Geidam; deputy governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala; Borno State deputy governor, Alhaji Zanna Yusuf, and some serving ANPP National Assembly members, Bafarawa said he would deploy the political experience he gathered in his sojourn to other parties to make the ANPP a force to reckon with in the state and the country in general.

He further stated that having tasted the Peoples Democratic Party administration, he believed the people of Sokoto had no better alternative than to join the ANPP with a view to bringing the good old days under the ANPP administration back to the state.

“Initially, I was begging you to join hands with me so as to usher in a new government but you were reluctant, but it has now become imperative for all Sokoto people to join the ANPP for the desired change of government in the state,” he said.
